The Annual Synchronized Swim Show

As the only nationally ranked competitive team in New Jersey, the Aquaducks travel extensively for meets.  Last year the girls swam in Connecticut, Pennsylvania and Niagara Falls, NY.  This year local meets extend as far as Haverhill, MA and the Nationals competition is in Seattle, WA. The Annual Synchronized Swimming Show is the team's biggest fundraising event. The show is usually held on the weekend before Thanksgiving.

Thank you everyone for making this year's show a success and for supporting the team. We'll see you next year! For more information about the show, click here.

Please check Westfield Y programs and the current brochure for more information on synchronized swimming classes and clinics.

Westfield Y Aquaducks Team 2010-2011

The Westfield Y Aquaducks Synchronized Swimming Team is an elite group of swimmers representing central New Jersey in competitions throughout the United States. Our swimmers have shown what they are capable of by excellent performances in East Zone Championships and US Age Group National Championships. Some of the more experienced members have succesfully competed in the US Open and US Junior Championships.

We are a USSSI (United States Synchronized Swimming, Inc.) swim team. This means that we swim year round as opposed to a recreational team that swims in the spring and summer. Our swim season starts in September and our competitions start in January. Most swimmers generally finish their competitions in June. The girls practice 3 days a week, 2-3 hours each day with more intense schedule in the midst of competition season. Being the only synchronized swim team in the state, the girls travel troughout US for regional and national competitions.

Each fall, the team puts on a spectacular synchronized swimming show to promote the beauty of the sport and to raise money to defray team's traveling costs. The show is usually held on the weekend before Thanksgiving. Please check the events listed on the left side of our public Westfield Y Aquaducks site for exact dates and ticket information.

Girls' strong commitment is complimented by a wonderful coaching staff and supportive parents and volunteers. The Aquaducks appreciate the support of the Westfield Y community.

The team is open to all young girls based on potential, ability, and desire to swim and compete. Tryouts for the team are held in early September. Classes and clinics are offered throughout the year. Synchronized swimming is an endurance sport and a beautiful form of art that challenges the swimmer to combine the strength of a gymnast and the grace of a dancer, much of the time while upside down and holding their breath - all the time in synch with their teammates.
